Dear Benny,
One year ago on March 14, 2011 we welcomed you, the sweetest, most loving little boy into our family. At 8:58pm, you came into the world with the most kissable cheeks I have ever seen.

Benson, my sweet Benson, you have grown into one amazing little boy. You are such a happy boy, always smiling and giggling infectiously. You just make
us so happy.
I love to watch you take in your surroundings. You're so patient, so kind, so understanding. How at one years old could someone show such traits? You love your sister with all of your heart. You always have the biggest smile on your face when you're with her. You love her and our puppy, Trippy, so much.
You're cautious. You take your time trying new things. You'd rather watch someone else do it first to make sure you'll be safe. At times a little dare devil comes out of you but not very often.
You're wearing size 12 month clothes, size 4 diapers and size 4 shoes.
We saw Dr. Canner this month for your 12 month well-check. You weighed 20 lbs. 3 oz. (15th %tile), 30 1/8 in. tall (50th %tile) and your head measured 18 1/4 in. (50th %tile). She was impressed that you've been walking for a month now! You had 3 immunizations and this is the age where I have to hold you while the nurses administer them. Oh how sad you were. I'm pretty sure it's the loudest I've heard you scream. It makes me so sad when you're so sad. One of your immunizations was the Chicken Pox immunization and you had a little bit of a reaction. You broke out with Chicken Pox on your tummy. Oh my poor boy, you have such sensitive skin. If there is something irritating than we can be pretty sure that you're going to react to it. All in all, Dr. Canner said that you are a healthy boy and right on track with all of your milestones.
You've all of a sudden turned into a picky eater. We can guarantee that you'll eat applesauce, yogurt, Goldfish, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, pancakes, and raisins, but that's about it. It's a game with everything else! Sometimes you'll eat the food I make for you and sometimes you don't. You've been eager to start feeding yourself with a spoon or fork, you do a really good job of getting it to your mouth if we put the food on the utencil for you.
We have switched you to milk and you love it. We've also switched you to sippy cups and got rid of bottles. I don't think you're very happy that we got rid of bottles! But, you do a great job of tipping up the sippy cups. You drink milk at every meal and after your morning nap. You don't drink any juice yet, you're fine with water :) (unless you get a sip of sister's, and then you chug it down!)
You still aren't saying too much. You kind of just make a "nngg" sound when you're pointing to things or are trying to tell us something. "Nngg" can mean about a million things! You will imitate "uh oh" and you can say dada, but for the most part you just say "nngg!" You use sign language to tell us more. But for the majority of the time you just point to what you want or where you want to go.

You love to climb up the stairs and it seems that you have some sort of sense when the gate is down. You'll head right up the stairs laughing so hard. You love it when we chase you!
One of your favorite games this month has been hide and seek. You and Kenna love to hide in the drapes in the kitchen giggling so hard when we ask "Where's Benny? Where's Kenna?". Then you'll move the drapes and we'll say "there he is! there she is!" and you just laugh and laugh and laugh! Oh how you love that game! You love it when Trippy hides back there with you too!!!

You love to take baths. You like to play with the plastic cups, filling them up and pouring them out. You also like to slap the water with your hands, splashing the water.

You are still an awesome sleeper. You go to bed around 7:00-7:15pm and you get up around 7:00am. You like to snuggle with your knit blankets and your puppy. Your thumb goes right into your mouth when you're tired. (just like Aunt Mackie!)
You love to tickle McKenna! She'll run away from you laughing and then you chase after her with a huge smile on your face. She'll stop and wait for you to tickle her again, and then start the whole chase game again. It's so funny to watch. My heart just swells when I watch the two of you play together.

The past 12 months have been indescribable. I thank God everyday for this amazing life he's given me. I am so blessed and honored to be your Momma. I can't wait to watch you grow.
Just know you are the most perfect little boy in the whole world.
