Here I sit on the last day of my spring break, wondering where the heck it went. Ugh. I hate that feeling. It's the same amount of time as the work week. 5 days. Monday-Friday. Yet it seems to fly. My 5 day work week seems to travel so much slower...doesn't seem very fair, does it?!
Brian was home this week too, which made for lots of relaxation, fun, and projects accomplished. On Monday we pretty much just chilled at home, enjoying the day playing and watching movies. Unfortunately it wasn't very warm, so we didn't get to play outside as much as we would have liked. Our outing consisted of going to Costco...anything to get out of the house!
On Tuesday, MiMoo came over to watch the kids and Brian & I went to see Hunger Games. What a treat it is to go to the movies! We got popcorn AND a pretzel! It was a perfect little date with a great movie. Thanks MiMoo...you are the BEST!
The weather was forecasted to be the nicest on Wednesday so along with everyone else who lives in Illinois, we decided to take full advantage and head to the Brookfield Zoo. It was extra fun because MiMoo, Aunt Krissy, and Aunt Mackie were able to join us...and thanks to our membership, we all got in free! (best gift ever, btw!) It was a fun filled day at our favorite place.

before we left, Benny was trying out one of his new birthday toys. Aunt Krissy got him this jump jump trampoline. OMG the kids LOVE it! Just look at that face!

Benny, Aunt Mackie & the giraffes!

missing Aunt Beanie

hi polar bear!

"sharing" a push-up with Aunt Krissy!

where do you think you're going?

to find sister, of course!

Ahhhhh!!!!!

tired girl

Thanks again Brookfield Zoo, you never cease to amaze us with your special animals. Oh how fun you are for Ben and McKenna! I really don't think they love a place more. See you this summer!
Pinterest inspired Aunt Mackie to make some puppy chow. So she brought some knowing her favorite neice and nephew would love it as much as she does. Wow was she ever right. These two gobbled it up!
Oh no...no no no, this momma would never let them have some for breakfast. Nope, never.
and...gosh...no...they'd never sit on the counter to eat it. Nope, never.

Thursday went a lot like Monday minus the trip to Costco. It went back to being chilly. So, we just hung out at home.
On Friday, Brian & his dad had plans to lay some brick pavers under our deck to deter Trippy from digging. But, of course, it's spring break, so the weather didn't cooperate. Brian was set on getting a project done in our house so decided that instead he and his dad would get working on our kitchen back splash. It's a project we've wanted done since we moved in, but I have a very hard time making decisions, so picking out tile was nearly impossible. So, that morning, I took to Pinterest...because nowadays, who doesn't consult Pinterest first??? While searching back splashes I came upon the use of bead board for a back splash rather than tile. I pinned a bunch and showed Brian. We both really liked the look and it seemed that installation would be much easier. Rich, my father in law brought his tools and the two got started. Along with the back splash they put in a marble window sill next to the sink.
VOILA!
Check out our "new" kitchen!

We are really happy with how it turned out...and how much money we saved!
Back to school tomorrow, for my super busy season. IEP "season" begins tomorrow which as a special education teacher brings busy to a whole new level.
Before you know it, summer will be here and we'll be back at the zoo...
I can't wait.

The splash looks great! Brian and his Dad are so talented and every project they tackle is done to perfection!
Puppy Chow for breakfast! That's an awesome mom if you ask me. Those kind of days they will remember. The ones where Mom let them eat whatever they wanted for breakfast. In our house it was leftover pizza and chocolate cake, and I will always have those memories :)
Mss you so much!!!!!
