4th

GBA! God Bless America!

Our annual trip to Arlington Race Track with my Dad was upon us once again.

This year it was just a few of us. Mom, as always, was attending her NEA Representatives Assembly in Washington D.C., Lizzie is currently living in San Francisco, and the Samples decided to opt out this year due to the extreme heat.

It was definitely hot. 100 degree hot. But that didn't deter race fans one bit. The place was packed! We were prepared for the heat with a cooler full of water, squirt bottle fans, and even a makeshift water table/pool for the kids. As always, we had a blast betting on the ponies with Dad.

It wouldn't be summer and it just wouldn't be the 4th of July without our day at Arlington.

Ben loved watching the tractor drive by ... he ran up to the fence every time he heard it coming!

The kids loved sitting on the fence watching the ponies race. Benny yelled and pumped his fists as they ran by us EVERY time. It was the cutest thing. It's an understatement to say that he had fun watching them run.

tent
The best thing we brought was this tent, which was Brian's idea. It was a perfect way to get the kids out of the direct sun and heat. McKenna sat in it for the longest time playing games on Aunt Krissy's iPhone.

The kids look red in the pictures but I'm happy to report that it's just because they were hot, not because they're burned. Our continuous layering upon layering of sunscreen, the tent, and many trips to the air conditioned clubhouse proved positive! They didn't get a spot of color!

What an awesome time once again this year!

Thanks Dad!
