Brian's Wrestling Weight...

Today we had another regularly schedule OB appointment. My last one wasn't so 'regular' so Brian came with me this time.

We had Dr. Webster again. I really like her, she is comforting, sweet, and makes you feel like she remembers exactly who you are.

This time my appointment was normal. Nothing out of the ordinary and no surprises - thank goodness.

McKenna's heart rate was 152 bpm. It took awhile for Dr. Webster to get her heart rate. McKenna was being a bit squirrely and kept moving away from the wand. I don't think she liked how cold it was! Finally she settled down and Dr. Webster was able to let us hear it for a bit and measure it. I truly believe it is the sweetest sound you'll ever hear. A life growing...a heart beating right there inside you...a heart that is inside of the body you'll soon one day hug and kiss and love more than anything else...it sure is amazing.

Hmm...what else? Well, my blood pressure was normal. I need to drink more water. Oh, and my belly measured 26 weeks - one week bigger than I am - which Dr. Webster said is fine, it won't always be perfect to the week. I'm not very happy with the weight gain, but Dr. Webster didn't bring it up at all, so I figured she wasn't worried about it. I told Brian that it had to be my shoes and my jeans were especially heavy today! :) Yes, Liz, they were my Pea in the Pod jeans you got me...so heavy...right???

Along with all of this measuring, they also gave me my dates to get my glucose test done. I need to get it done between 1/13 - 1/27. I can't believe I'm already far enough along to be talking about my glucose test! During that blood work appointment, they will also retest my thyroid to see how it's doing.

All in all it was a great appointment today.

My next regularly schedule OB appointment is in four weeks - Wednesday, February 3rd at 8:20am.

DeFisher Family Christmas

Does Christmas really need to fall on the 24th or the 25th of December in order to be Christmas?

Some people think it does.

My family...does not. Christmas - celebrating with loved ones, catching up with one another, giving special gifts, and just enjoying one another's company - in our family happens on multiple occasions...not just on the Eve and Christmas Day.

In the past, Christmas was on Christmas Eve for my mom's side of the family. Our favorite memories were of Grandma Beauty's house full of all of our cousins, aunts, and uncles. We always had a blast playing in the garage and sitting around the Christmas tree waiting to open our presents. Santa came to Grandma's house every year. He knew that's where we would be and that's where he would leave our gifts. (I'm still in awe of my mom and dad being able to pull off such a feat!)

Our family is just getting too big and now that everyone is starting to have kids, we all want to build our own traditions and memories. So, Christmas with the DeFisher's is now in January.

For the past two years we have joined together to celebrate the holidays at a restaurant in Mentor, Ohio, where my Grandma Beauty lives. We rent out one of their banquet rooms - this year it landed on Saturday, January 2nd, which made it perfect for visiting both the Milazzo and DeFisher sides.

Trippy came too! She drove up with Mackie on Saturday morning.

she loved Grandma's backyard!

Another holiday season wrapped up. It was as wonderful as always. I can't wait to share all of these special memories with my special one. She'll be here before you know it. I can't wait.

I hope that each and every one of you were able to enjoy the holiday season with the ones you hold near and dear to your heart. I wish you all the best in 2010.

Football and Pasta

New Year's Day arrived in grand fashion in northeast Ohio...a nice THICK blanket of snow fell and continued to fall all day and night. They ended up having atleast a foot of snow when all was said and done...ah the treasure of alittle something called lake effect. The nice part was that we didn't have to go anywhere, we just hung out at Grandma & Grandpa's house enjoying the coffee and the company.

Aunt Kim, Uncle Mike, Marissa, Sammy, & Sal did brave the winter weather and drove out for a visit. In Milazzo family tradition we had pasta, meatballs, italian sausage and salad...a tradition that never gets old!

Mackie wasn't in town yet, so Liz had to take the picture herself!

Brian & his winter break beard

you gotta keep that beard tamed...
